CAF Gaskets
A gasket material that is comprised of asbestos fibers encapsulated within a rubber binder.
This type of gasket is tough, durable and dimensionally stable, relatively incompressible and exhibits low creep characteristics. It also has the ability to effectively form a seal over a wide range of service conditions which has given it a good reputation. Compressed asbestos fiber(CAF) gaskets have good chemical resistance capabilities and a good working temperature range of cryogenic to 1,100F. It is less suitable for low bolt loads such as use with non-metallic flanges and low grade bolts, and is not suitable for use in stainless steel flanges due to its chlorine content which will damage the flanges. However, CAF gaskets can be installed relatively easily due to their ability to handle mechanical abuse, incorrect fitting and bolt-load retorquing
PTFE is principally used as a gasket material because of it's capability to remain unaffected by the majority of chemicals used in industry. It is also classified, in most cases, as a food grade material, making it acceptable to both medical and food production industries. There are three basic types of PTFE gasket materials-Virgin PTFE, Filled PTFE and expanded PTFE.
Virgin PTFE is by far the least expensive of the three varieties, and is used in most general applications. Filled PTFE is a gasket material with a virgin PTFE base to which a substance is added during manufacture to improve the sealing characteristics of PTFE. This “filler“ usually is glass or graphite particles although ceramics has sometimes been used. The resulting gasket material is strong, yet highly compressible with very good, though not universal, chemical resistance.
Expanded PTFE is virgin PTFE to which a stress resistance has been added by means of molecular rearrangement during manufacture. This process ensures that the molecular chains from which the PTFE is constructed, do not arrange themselves into set patterns. This means that expanded PTFE possesses no structural weakness (grain) and expands and contracts equally in all directions. Because no additives are required, expanded PTFE also possesses the unique chemical resistance of virgin PTFE.
Spiral Wound Gaskets:
Spiral-wound gaskets comprise a mix of metallic and filler material. Generally, the gasket has a metal (normally carbon rich or stainless steel) wound outwards in a circular spiral (other shapes are possible) with the filler material (generally a flexible graphite) wound in the same manner but starting from the opposing side. This results in alternating layers of filler and metal. The filler material in these gaskets acts as the sealing element, with the metal providing structural support.
These gaskets have proven to be reliable in most applications, and allow lower clamping forces than solid gaskets, albeit with a higher cost.
Spiral wound gaskets have proven to be the most reliable sealing element for use in difficult, critical and arduous duties. Spiral wound gaskets are used in Refinery, Petrochemical, Chemical, Steam lines and Process Industries, where they have many advantages over older types of gaskets.
These gaskets are manufactured to International specifications such as BS, API, ASME, DIN.
Exclusive PTFE Diaphragm material is a time proven product which is made using best of the technology and material used is offering longest cycle life in the industry which continues to outperform all competitive materials.
These Diaphragms usually used in Pumps which proves to be durable and versatile. Containing high performance PTFE Sheet on the wetted side which in effect they last significantly longer than other conventional diaphragms. These Diaphragms profice dramatic improvement in service life and are considerably stronger, with greater flex life. Excellent chemical resistance makes PTFE Pump Diaphragms extremly versatile. They are suitable for use with most chemicals and in elevated temperatures and pressures, and are ideally suited for general service pumps that are used for a vatiety of pumping tasks.
Benefits:
1. Longer Lasting diaphragms, which is less replacement times.
2. Versatile Diaphragms, which works with most chemicals.
3. Lower Cost, which means maintenance and operating cost reduction
Key Features:
1. Contains high performance PTFE Sheet.
2. Excellent Rib Construction in Diaphragm Designs.
3. Chemically resistant and high temperature resistant.
4. Greater flex life.
